Hiroki Minematsu - NHD Farm

Hiroki, the owner of NHD farm in Nakashibetsu, Hokkaido, is breeding 300 or more milk cows at moment. But, he is a bit unique as a farmer. A graduate from Sophia Univ in Tokyo, one of the best private schools in Japan. With Ashizaki, a friend of his in the high school Rugby team, who is also an another unique person in the fishing industry in Rausu, Hiroki is trying to create a link between sea and land in the area. It might be a chance to make sweeping out the smell of methane spread in the town, which has been caused by 35,000 cows there.

At the same time, he has also been working with the other partners to increase the quality of the cows from genetics point of view. These days, he has just successfully generated a cow with more than TPI 3000 (= Total Performance Index) in addition to the one born with TPI 2800 a half year ago. Not so many people know how much rare it is to have a cow with TPI more than 3000. But, the quality of the cows in Nakashibetsu will be continuously improved by their efforts for smart reproducing. They would have, so-called, super-cows in many in the near future.

Yes, he and his partners are trying to needle a hole on the big solid wall that exists both in mental and physical in the industry, which is separating the old mechanism from the new attempts.
